Health and Safety K2 Specialist Services Ltd

The success and expansion of K2 Specialist Services (UK) Ltd has been achieved through; our total commitment to a programme of Health, Safety & Risk Management throughout our high access work operations.

Management Health & Safety
Our Health & Safety Director, Gareth Smyth, is accredited with CITB Safety Management Course which outlines the basics of managing site safety and risk assessments. To complement this, a Management IOSH course was completed in October 2006. Continual legislation updates are provided by both ATLAS and by visiting the HSE web sites to view any arising Health and Safety issues.

To develop our workforce's awareness with both company and statutory legislation our Contracts Manager, Paul Kirkwood , has also undergone CITB's Safety Management Course. Our Monthly "tool box talk" meeting gathers the workforce to discuss any legislation changes, our monthly safety record and any site safety issues.

Training
K2 currently have two employees attending National Construction College, Norfolk, on block release with plans to enrol one apprentice to the college at each yearly intake. This NVQ steeplejack course gives these candidates an insight on the traditions of steeplejack access with one of the UK's leading construction training provider.

Our local training group provider, Sibbald Ltd, is a fully approved and accredited training provider for CITB. They provide our workforce with suitable training updates for; Manual Handling, Abrasive Wheels and Slinger Signaller courses.

On Site Safety
At the outset of any project we undertake, regardless of size, a site specific Quality Plan is developed detailing our Method Statements and Risk Analysis. This Plan is further developed at the pre-start meeting stage prior to commencement of the contract and forwarded for approval. Each squad member is instructed on the details within the Plan before leaving for site with a recorded daily risk assessment sheet completed during the work operations.

CDM Regulations 2007 have been further developed in recent years. By keeping abreast of legislation changes K2 have been appointed both Principle Contractor and Contractor on many projects. With continual changes in Health and Safety legislation K2 offer peace of mind that with proactive training in place we will be on step ahead on all safety issues.
